Where is Railay Beach?

Railay Beach is located in Ao Nang sub-district, Mueang district, Krabi province, within the area of Nopparat Thara Beach-Phi Phi Islands National Park. This beach features fine white sand and is distinguished by its beautiful limestone cliffs. Railay Beach has two sides:

• West Railay Beach (Hat Nam Mao): This side is home to Phra Nang Cave, which contains a shrine that local fishermen worship. It’s perfect for enjoying the sunset views.
• East Railay Beach: Separated by rock formations between the two beaches. In addition to the beauty of the sandy beach and clear sea, Railay Beach is also famous for activities popular among international tourists, particularly rock climbing. The cliffs at the end of the beach are suitable for climbing and can be done year-round. Each April, a rock climbing event is regularly held, especially in the area of East Railay Beach, Ton Sai Bay, and the cliffs around Phra Nang Cave.

Although many may think Railay is an island, it is actually located on the mainland. However, access to this beach is only by boat as it is surrounded by mountains. This may be another reason why the local people have not been engulfed by technology and modernity, maintaining the lifestyle of a small fishing village that adapts to the times while preserving traditions and customs.
